More citations were issued in the Bossier City Police Department's most recent safety checkpoint than in its previous one. Yesterday's checkpoint was held from 2 to 6 p.m. in the 700 block of Barksdale Boulevard, and focused on seat belt use. Officers checked a total of 194 vehicles and issued 22 citations to motorists not wearing seat belts -- and one citation to a motorist who failed to have a child in safety restraints. Officers also wrote 12 tickets for other various non-moving violations. During the last checkpoint, held in late March, officers checked almost 360 vehicles...and wrote no tickets for no seat belt or child restraints. They did issue 16 citations for other violations.
