Water main breaks in two areas of Shreveport caused water to be cut off for repairs, and voluntary boil advisories to be issued.

The areas are near Linwood Public Charter School on West 70th, and the 2900-3200 blocks of Green Road, near Fair Park High School and Just 4 Kids Day Care Center.

According to the city's Department of Water & Sewerage, water near Linwood School was restored late yesterday afternoon. Greenwood Road repairs are expected to be completed late tonight.

The department has issued the boil advisories until water samples can be tested for contaminants. Those in the area are urged to boil their water for one full minute in a clean container before consuming it, or using it for food preparation or brushing teeth.

The advisory will be rescinded once the Department of Health and Hospitals deems the water safe.
