Bad News – Big Lots Closing Several Stores in Louisiana

SHREVEPORT, LA - Bad news on the discount shopping front. Big Lots is closing hundreds of stores across the nation and some Louisiana stores are on the chopping block.

The company has announced a total of 315 locations will close nationwide. These closings come as Big Lots faces plunging sales.

Big Lots said it “experienced decreased comps and net sales in all of our merchandise categories.”

The discount retailer revealed the closing plan in an updated Securities and Exchange Commission filing.

The planned closings listed on the company’s store finder are already having sales. You will find 20% deals at most of these stores.

The hardest hit state is California where 75 of the 109 Big Lots stores are closing. Several stores in Florida are also shutting down.

What Stores Are Closing in Louisiana?

• 3161 E Texas St., Bossier City
• 2354 S Range Ave., Denham Springs
• 3557 Ambassador Caffery Pkwy, Lafayette
• 339 South Dr., Ste D, Natchitoches

The Big Lots Store in Shreve City will remain open, at least for now. Big Lots also will still have stores in 13 other Louisiana cities:

• Baton Rouge
• Chalmette
• Covington
• Gonzales
• Hammond
• Houma
• La Place
• Lake Charles
• Marrero
• Metairie
• Slidell
• Thibodaux
• West Monroe

Texas appears to have been spared from the cut list. None of the 116 Texas locations are targeted for closing.
