“Best Places in Shreveport Bossier To Go Swimming – Erin McCarty’s Top 5”
1. Splash Kingdom
This is the place the kids want to go if they want to do some serious water recreation. It was called Watertown for years, but is now owned by the same group that owns Splash Kingdom on I-20 in Canton, TX. The nice thing about the park is that you can buy a summer pass and it is good at both parks. Thrill seekers will love going down the massive water slides including the Bonzai which dumps you out into a shallow pool. The wave pool is also a big hit giving you the feeling of being out in the ocean. But my favorite spot at Splash Kingdom is the Lazy River. I like to plop down on a tube and float slowly around the course. The park opens at 11 each morning and has lots of great special events during the summer. It's also a great place to have a party for your child or with the folks from the office.
2. Southern hills pool
This is one of the many Shreveport city-owned pools and is a great place to bring the kids for a day of swimming. You can get a family summer pass, or you can pay by the day. It's $3/person per day and this includes the big slide that is a huge hit with the kids. Southern Hills offers swim lessons at very reasonable rates. The hours are a bit limited, but if you plan ahead, you can enjoy lots of fun at the pool. Tuesday-Friday 4pm-8pm, Saturday 1pm-5pm and on Sunday from 2pm-6pm. 3. eastridge country club
This is one of the largest pools complexes in Shreveport. There are 3 pools: the pool for toddlers, another pool for having fun with a diving board and a slide, and there's the competition pool for swim competitions with 7 lanes. This is a great place to swim laps to get that exercise in the summer. The pool grill is one of Shreveport's best kept secrets...great burgers and other food to enjoy while spending some time with the kids. The pool is open Tuesday-Saturday from 10am-8pm and from 1pm-8pm on Sunday.
4. Pierremont oaks
This is one of the private clubs in Shreveport that has a heck of a swimming program. The pool is packed with young people every day and for teenagers, it's a little social get together every day. The swimming pool is open from 11am-8pm Tuesday-Sunday. The pool also hosts several swim meets on Wednesday mornings, so check first before you go. One thing this swimming pool still has that many others don't is a diving board!! The young kids also love the curvey slide.
5. Mike woods park
Bossier City has three public swimming pools, but I love the pool at Mike Woods park in south Bossier City. It's open Monday through Friday from 2 pm-6 pm and from 1pm-6pm on Saturdays. It costs just $2 for adults and $1 for children. The pool is very busy on Saturday, but you can still have lots of fun in the sun and in the water.
