A Shreveport woman is charged with injuring a child in an incident that happened last week at a local daycare center.

Police say 25-year-old Amanda Marie Swanner allegedly pulled a nap mat from under a 5-year-old boy at Bellaire Baptist Church Learning Center. The boy was lying on the mat with the elastic straps around his neck and hands. When the mat was pulled away, the straps pulled across the child's throat and neck, causing a bruise and burn mark on his neck.

Detectives began their investigation after the child's parents filed a complaint with Bossier City police later that day.

Swanner has been booked into the Bossier City Jail on a charge of cruelty to a juvenile.

Swanner isn't the first worker at this daycare center to be arrested on cruelty charges. Tammi Hilliard pled guilty last year to 10 counts of simple battery. Doris Williams pled guilty to failure to report child abuse and two counts of simple battery. The two were arrested in 2013.
