I have to admit, to the best of my knowledge, I've never been bitten by a bed bug. But, it would appear that one trip to a hotel in Chicago could change that.

prnewswire.com reports that exterminating giant, Orkin, has released their list of the Top 50 Cities for bed bugs, and for the second year in a row, Chicago is the king of the country when it comes to these little mattress marauders.

The article goes on to say:

The list is based on treatment data from the metro areas where Orkin performed the most bed bug treatments from December 1, 2020 – November 30, 2021.

So Where Are The Louisiana Cities?

If you are anything like me, the first thing you just did was scan the full list of the Top 50 to see just how many Louisiana cities were on there. And you were probably just as shocked as I was to discover that there was finally one of those "bad" lists, and Louisiana wasn't anywhere on it.

I know Orkin serves the Shreveport area, but I was unsure if they were present in other areas of the state. That might explain why Louisiana was unrepresented on the list. Nope; Orkin has locations in nearly every nook and cranny of the state, so that wasn't the answer.

That could only leave a couple other possibilities.

  1. Orkin says their numbers are based on the combination of both commercial and residential treatments, so evidently, not only are Louisiana hotels/motels doing a pretty good job, but we're doing a pretty good job at home as well.
  2. Louisiana people have just learned to deal with these little boogers and stopped calling Orkin to come help.

Not sure what the answer might be, but it is good to see a list like this and not one single Louisiana city represented.
