It is almost time for the azaleas to be in full bloom at the Norton Art Gallery in Shreveport's South Highlands neighborhood.
I took a ride through the area over the weekend to see how close the flowers are blooming.

It is beautiful, but they are not quite at peak.

What Is the Photo Policy at the Norton?

You do need to know about the rules for taking photos at the Norton.
Back in 2013, professional photography was banned. It had gotten out of hand. Folks were bringing horses and sheep and other odd things onto the grounds for photo shoots.

Here's the policy that was implemented at the time:

"Effective immediately, no commercial photography (photography for hire) or commercial enterprise of any kind will be permitted on the museum grounds. Private photography will be allowed only until such a time as the museum's new fence is erected and functional. At that point all photography on the grounds will be prohibited with the exception of legitimate school-affiliated educational photography classes which have made advance appointments."

I did see some folks taking photos and I took several photos of the grounds. I think the purpose is to avoid large photo shoots on the property. The grounds were damaged prior to the photo guidelines.

Are the Azaleas in Full Bloom?

My worry today is that the Monday night storm damaged the azaleas that are just about in full bloom. I hope that is not the case. I'm hoping to go back this weekend to check it out. It looks like this weekend will be the prime time for the gorgeous flowers.

This is truly one of Shreveport's jewels. the Botanical Gardens are listed by Southern Living Magazine as "One of the South's favorite spots".

If you want to visit the Norton, here are the hours as listed on the Norton website:

Monday through Wednesday: CLOSED
Thursday - Sunday: 1:00-5:00 PM
No reservations or tickets are required and admission is free.

Azaleas Starting to Bloom at the Norton Art Gallery

I hope the Monday night storms did not harm the beautiful blooms at the Norton Art Gallery.
