
Nation Weather Service: Ark-La-Tex Needs To Brace For Another Severe Weather Day
The Shreveport area will have to continue monitoring the weather for the 7th consecutive day. The National Weather Service has been issuing risk assessments, watches, and warnings every day for a week across the Ark-La-Tex.
What Kind of Severe Weather Have We Seen In The Last Week?
Starting on March 28th, the National Weather Service in Shreveport had to issue a Tornado Warning. It was just the first of many for that day. Mixed in with those warnings were Tornado Watches and Severe Thunderstorm Warnings as well.
March 29th was spent reporting on the tornadoes from the 28th, including one in Caddo Parish. As well as preparing for what was to come on the 30th. The National Weather Service was issuing risk assessments for the following day that included more "Enhanced Risks" for the Ark-La-Tex.
On March 30th, the National Weather Service in Shreveport had to issue numerous Severe Thunderstorm Warnings and Flash Flood Warnings across the region. Those spilled over into March 31st right away. Those warnings would continue through the 31st, and by April 1st, we were looking at more "Enhanced Risks" for the region.
Both April 2nd and April 3rd came with Tornado Warnings being issued by the National Weather Service in Shreveport.
Could Shreveport See Tornadoes Today?
Now, entering today, we have more risk assessments from the National Weather Service for the Ark-La-Tex, and they might be some of the strongest we've seen from them during this severe weather streak. They have issued an "Enhanced Risk" for the Shreveport area, which is the third of five on their risk assessment scale. While the Southern Arkansas and Texarkana region have a "Moderate Risk", which is their 4th highest risk assessment.
They expect this system to start in the late morning hours into the early evening. Their highest risk potential is north of I-20, with protentional for tornadoes, damaging winds, and very large hail.
