Are You Finding Fat Shaming Notes Inside Bossier Grocery Stores?

I Was Tasked With Bringing Dessert to a Family Friends For Dinner and I Made My Way to a Brand New Grocery Store.

This grocery store is one of the best additions to Bossier and it is already my favorite store and will probably be my favorite grocery store as long as I live in Bossier. There are so many selections and you can get lost in this store for hours if you don't bring a shopping list. I went to the bakery and saw that someone left their grocery list behind.

As I Got Closer I Realized It Was Not a Grocery List Left Behind, It Was a Note.

The brownies had a note that read "Over weight??? Try St Luke 21: 33, 34, 35, 36". For some reason, the note angered me, no it wasn't that they misspelled overweight it was that whoever wanted to "minister" to people is going about it the wrong way.

What Does This Scripture Say?

In case you don't have a bible handy Luke 21:33-36 says "33 Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away. 34 But take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that Day come on you unexpectedly. 35 For it will come as a snare on all those who dwell on the face of the whole earth. 36 Watch, therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man."

What Does This Scripture Even Have to Do With Being Overweight?

I could see this scripture being used to tell someone to quit binge drinking but using these scriptures to motivate someone to lose weight is just careless to me. Are they trying to tell us not to give in to the brownies?

What Did This Person Think They Would Accomplish?

Did this make me step back and double-check myself before I reached for the dessert for my friend's dinner party? Absolutely. A little voice inside my head started telling me that everyone around me was looking at me judging the overweight fat chick near the brownies.

Why weren't these little notes all over the store? Did this person think that a bible verse on an index card would guilt me into turning around and leaving without dessert? Think again sucker.

If You Saw One of These Notes and You are Struggling With Your Weight Please Don't Be Discouraged.

If you're trying to find your way around a new gym, keep showing up. If you are finding different ways to eat healthier don't let one bad meal throw you off. If you're sore from moving your body around like it hasn't been moved before, know that that is a good thing, your body thanks you. If you found a crappy note in the bakery at a grocery store know that that isn't the way God wants you to find him. God is love, and I am sorry that you found a note written by someone who treats the scripture like trail mix, we don't get to hand-pick certain scriptures and use them for our own benefit.

I've Been Struggling With My Weight for a Long Time.

My PCOS really slows down my weight loss and I have learned to take it one day at a time. This index card gave me that same feeling when I hear people judging the fact that there are 'new people at the gym. If you truly want to be someone who promotes Christ's love, do so without judgment. Instead of spreading notes asking people if they are overweight why don't you go around and spread kindness in your community?
