The Shreveport Fire Department was dispatched to 1952 Dove Street at 8:01 pm for a reported house fire.  Fire crews arrived on scene at 8:03 pm to find a one story wood frame home with heavy fire and smoke coming from the front of the home and the roof.  Fire spread rapidly through the home and began to damage the two homes next to it.  The incident commander called for a second alarm at 8:10 pm due to the possibility of having three structures involved with fire.  The fire crews on scene began an aggressive approach to the seat of the fire and were able to bring it under control at 8:20 pm.  Second alarm companies were returned to their stations once the fire was brought under control.

The home was occupied by two adults who escaped without injury.  The other two homes were not occupied at the time of the fire.  The involved home suffered heavy fire and smoke damage and the two exposed homes suffered light fire damage to their exteriors.

Fire investigators were able to determine that the fire started in a bedroom near a window air conditioning unit.
