Accident Near Blanchard Leaves Two Drivers Injured
Caddo sheriff's deputies are investigating an accident near Blanchard that left two people injured.
Deputies say 40-year-old James Pierce of Carthage, Texas, was driving an 18-wheeler northbound on Hwy. 1, when witnesses say he ran a red light and hit a Chevy Equinox headed west on Hwy. 173 (Dixie-Blanchard Road). The big rig then ran off the road and hit a traffic light support, causing an outage at the intersection.
The driver of the Equinox, 22-year-old Laurel Tittle of Mooringsport, and Pierce were both taken to University Health with non-life-threatening injuries.
Deputies ask drivers to use caution at the intersection while repairs are made to the traffic light.
