New Dome for Downtown Shreveport Is Officially Underway
There are signs of work being done by the team from Curtis 50 Cent Jackson in downtown Shreveport. Crews are beginning the process for building a permanent dome or sphere structure in the area.
The dome structure is being built at the corner of Travis and Commerce. This is the site where the temporary G-dome was set up last year for the first Humor and Harmony Festival.
What Work Has Started for the New Dome?
Construction crews are currently doing environmental assessment/remediation at the site before any construction can begin. Once the site is cleared and gets the green light on the environmental front, work can begin.

What Will the Dome Include?
This state-of-the-art dome will have LED lighting and video graphics. It's expected to be considerably larger than the temporary dome set up last year. It is expected to be ready for Humor and Harmony festival planned for March 12-15.
Who Will Pay for this Dome?
No one is saying exactly how this is being financed yet. But the state of Louisiana has been putting together a package of incentives for 50 Cent and his team to bring the G-Unit Production Company to our community. This will likely include partial funding for constructing the dome. It will also probably include tax breaks on investments made by G-Unit in our community.
He will also get film tax credits that are now available in Louisiana for movie and TV projects filmed in the state.
