3 Men Arrested in Connection with Shooting of Toddler
Three men have been arrested in connection with the Friday night shooting of a two-year-old child.
It happened just after 8pm at the Clear Horizon Apartment Complex on Illinois Street.
Detectives arrested 29–year-old Deandre Dixon, of the 4300 block of Illinois Street, 26-year-old Javuntae Williams, of the 2600 block of Village Lane in Bossier City, and 19–year-old Demonte Small, of the 4300 block Of Illinois Street. All three were charged with one count each of Illegal Use of a Weapon while in the Commission of a Crime. Investigators were able to use video collected from the area, statements from forthcoming witnesses, and other investigative means to identify the three men as suspects. During the course of the investigation, detectives were also able to recover four firearms that were believed to have been used in the crime.
The incident began as an argument among a group of women when at least one man pulled out a gun and began shooting.
That's when other people on the scene heard the shots and began firing their guns. One of those bullets hit the 2-year-old, who was playing inside his home. The child’s family was not part of the dispute and was not associated with the people who were shooting.
