It's been nearly nine years since the body of Bruce Cotton was found inside his vehicle in rural south Caddo Parish, and sheriff's detectives are still working to solve the case.

On February 29th, 2004, two boys who were fishing in the area found Cotton's Olds 98 along the shoulder of White Springs Road. Cotton's body was inside. It had been three days since the 51-year-old carpenter was last seen by his family, who filed a missing persons report on February 27th.

Detectives are still actively working his case, and are seeking information from the public. I asked Caddo Sheriff's Spokeswoman Cindy Chadwick how often cases like this end up getting solved, even all these years later. "Well, it happens. And you know, a lot of times people are unwilling to talk, and maybe after a while that changes," she says. "Usually [investigations] don't go on this long. But it happens. It's not unheard of. And that's what we're hoping in this case. That somebody's gonna have a conscience and give us the information that we need to move forward."

Anyone with info to share can contact Det. Terry Richardson at 675-2170, or call Crime Stoppers at 673-7373.
