2 Year Old Killed in Haughton During Storms
Storms have claimed the life of a 2-year-old girl in the Haughton area.
The toddler was asleep in an RV in the Hill Crest Mobile Home & RV Park on Highway 80 in Haughton when a large tree fell on the RV at about 12:30 Saturday morning. Four adults and a 15- month old were also in the RV at the time, but were not hurt.
The Bossier Sheriff’s Office also reports numerous downed trees on homes and in roadways throughout the parish. Country Place and Dogwood subdivisions were hard hit along with many neighborhoods in the northern part of the Parish.
The Bossier Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness is coordinating with the American Red Cross to provide immediate shelter for displaced families.
Bossier City officials are reporting several problem areas. Here’s the list:
Damage reported to retail buildings in the 2900 block of East Texas.
Tree down on mobile home in Santa Fe Mobile Home Park, no injuries reported.
Power lines reported down at several areas including 100 block of Robert E. Lee Place, 400 block of Hamilton Road.
Trees and power lines reported down and homes reported damaged in parts of Meadowview and Swan Lake neighborhoods.
The National Weather Service has been gathering all of the damage reports and here is what they have confirmed so far:
A tornado report from Harrison County in Texas uprooted several trees and knocked down power lines in the Diana community.
High winds knocked down several trees in n Sexton Road in the Minden area.
A tree has fallen on a home on Main Street in Sarepta.
Widespread trees and power lines down are reported in Jefferson, Texas. Several roads are blocked.
A funnel cloud was spotted at about 1230 AM 2 miles west/southwest of Red Chute in Bossier Parish. Power flashes could be seen southwest of that location.
A large tree was knocked down on Birdwell Street in Bossier City.
Reports of debris and tree limbs down around Fairpark Middle School on Greenwood Road in Shreveport.
Several trees down in Gregg County Texas in the Sabine Community on Wilkins Road.
