If you were to ask someone from the Ark-La-Tex where they go for a good pie the vote would probably be unanimous, Strawn's of course.

Strawn's is famous for its ice-box pies, which have been featured in Southern Living and the Food Network. It's one of Shreveport's favorite spots for breakfast, but this crew kills it in the hamburger game too. Strawn's Eat Shop has been around since 1944.

If It's So Popular, Why Did Strawn's on Kings Highway Close Down?

The good news is it's not permanent. Strawn's is simply getting a much-needed facelift. This is the moment when we all let out a sigh of relief. Thank you sweet baby Jesus Strawn's plans to open up and show us their new "facelift" on April 1st.

Don't Worry the Murals Aren't Going Anywhere.

According to a Facebook post by Shreveport and the World History "Strawns on Kings Hwy will be closed for about 3 weeks getting a facelift- starting March 7.. nope not losing murals …" So of course we love that news.

The post went on to share some awesome Shreveport history with us. "Mr. Strawn opened Strawn's Eat Shop in 1944 on 125 E Kings Hwy in Shreveport LA across from Centenary College. The Gauthier family (Buddy) bought Strawn's from its second owner, Gus Alexander, in 1988. Buddy had never been in the restaurant business before and had to rely on his long-term employees to learn the business. He quickly expanded the available seating from 50 to 150+ people. The three oldest Gauthier children now own and run the three locations and rely on the guidance of their Dad, Buddy, for direction in the stores. Strawn's has featured in countless publications including Southern Living magazine & The Food Network. They are known nationally for their strawberry iced box pie and locals lovingly refer to them as 'that pie place.' Strawn's is one of the 3 oldest restaurants in the city of Shreveport at 78 years young."
