In just a few months, southeast Shreveport residents will have another big player in the grocery arena. Brookshire's is moving full steam ahead to build a brand new grocery store at the intersection of Norris Ferry Road and Southern Loop.

We don’t have an expected opening date yet, but the company hopes to have the store open by the end of this year or early in 2023.

This complex will include a full service grocery store with a pharmacy and gas station.

Brookshire’s is in the process of building a 56,000 square-foot store with retail sales of beer and wine, a fuel station and a drive-thru pharmacy window. There will also be commercial space for other businesses at the complex.

This new grocery store will bring in at least 200 jobs for the area.

This new store will be in direct competition with the Kroger Marketplace store at Ellerbe and Flournoy Lucas which opened in late 2016.

It will be very similar to what is commonly called the Gucci Brookshire's on Line Avenue which is 55,000 square feet.

Brookshire's plans to have staff members dedicated to personal shopping for those who want to shop online and pick up their groceries at a specified time.

So what should the nickname of this new grocery store be? We are thinking Chanel Brookshire's or maybe Armani Brookshire's. What about Prada Brookshire's? No telling what might stick, but I’m thinking Burberry Brookshire's sounds good.

The area is also booming in other ways. Construction of the new YMCA complex is moving along just north of the Kroger on Ellerbe Road.
