[UPDATE] Shreveport police continue to probe a single-vehicle wreck that left a local man dead. Sgt. Marcus Hines tells KEEL News the man who died in the crash is 35-year-old Frederic Temple -- *not* 36-year-old Franklin Temple, as was originally reported. Investigators believe speed was a factor in the crash, but they're still looking into it.

[ORIGINAL STORY]  A man is dead following a weekend wreck in Shreveport.  Police say 36-year-old Franklin Temple was driving his 2013 Dodge Avenger on Lakeshore Drive, just east of S. Lakeshore, when he left the roadway and hit several trees.

Temple was pronounced dead at the scene.  He was the vehicle's only occupant.  Crash investigators are still trying to determine exactly what caused the accident.

*NOTE FROM THE KEEL MORNING NEWS TEAM*  Our sincere apologies to Franklin Temple's family and friends for his name being used as this morning's "Newsmaker of the Day" in our free gas contest. We will refrain from doing anything like this in the future.
