Police detectives have identified and are now searching for the suspect they believe shot at a man in a busy East Shreveport parking lot on Easter Sunday.

Investigators received a tip through the Shreveport-Caddo Parish Crime Stoppers naming 22 year old Esclarea La Juan Smith as the shooter who produced a handgun and fired several shots at Rodney Alexander back on April 8, 2012 in the Walmart parking lot in the 1100 block of Shreveport-Barksdale Highway. Smith was a passenger in a vehicle that almost hit Alexander’s car and the two exchanged verbal barbs prior to Smith pulling a handgun and firing at Alexander as he drove away. No one was injured but the victim’s vehicle was struck several times.

Based on that Crime Stoppers tip as well as other evidence and information gathered during the course of the investigation, authorities sought and obtained an arrest warrant charging Smith with one count of attempted second degree murder. Her bond is set at $100,000. Esclarea Smith is described as a black female about five feet seven inches tall weighing approximately 160 pounds with a short hair cut. Her current address is unknown at this time but officials believe she may be hiding out in the Dallas, Texas area.

Anyone with any information regarding the whereabouts of Esclarea La Juan Smith is urged to call Shreveport Police detectives at 318-673-6955 or Shreveport-Caddo Parish Crime Stoppers at 318-673-7373.
