Authorities are releasing video footage of a suspect who robbed a west Shreveport dollar store last week.

At approximately 8:20 p.m. on July 26, 2011, Shreveport Police patrol officers responded to a reported robbery at the Family Dollar in the 3800 block of Linwood Avenue.  Upon arrival there, patrolmen contacted a witness who told them a male suspect entered the store and purchased a pack of chewing gum.  As the clerk was opening the register to complete the transaction, the man allegedly reached into a tote bag and raised it up as if he was concealing a weapon. The suspect demanded money and, after receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, fled the scene of the crime on foot. No one was injured during the robbery.

The suspect, described a dark complexioned black male with a slim build, was allegedly wearing a blue dress and a red wig at the time of the heist. Investigators are releasing surveillance footage of the bandit and are asking anyone who has any information regarding this robbery to call them at 318-673-6955 or Shreveport-Caddo Parish Crime Stoppers at 318-673-7373. Click the photo to the left or CLICK HERE to view the video captured during the robbery on the Crime Stoppers YouTube channel.
