Vice President Mike Pence is in Acadiana today after three St. Landry Parish churches were intentionally burned. Pence will land at Lafayette Regional Airport and will then be driven by motorcade to Opelousas. He's due to visit Mount Pleasant Baptist church where he will meet with church leaders and parishioners. Traffic congestion is expected while the Vice President makes his way to St. Landry Parish, but long-term road closures are not expected.

Here is live video from our news partners at KATC at Lafayette Regional Airport.

This morning in an interview, Pence spoke out about attacks on faith and included the St. Landry Parish churches in his remarks. He said, "No one should ever fear for their safety in a place of worship."

A 21-year-old Opelousas man is behind bars for the fires. The investigation by local and federal agencies is ongoing.
