The war with Iran continues to involve more U.S. military units. KEEL News has now confirmed that B-52's have been used in this attack against Iran.

Navy Admiral Brad Cooper has confirmed the use of the big bombers, but no specific details about how many bombers are involved. Barksdale Air Force Base is home to part of the b-52 fleet. Others are located in Minot, North Dakota.

Admiral Cooper says the B-52's targeted deep missile facilities and command centers in iran. He also says Naval forces from the United States Navy destroyed 17 Iranian vessels, including a submarine.

CENTCOM has been issuing daily updates and some videos on these attacks.

What Is the Mission of the B-52?

The United States Air Force says the mission of the B-52H Stratofortress is a long-range, heavy bomber that can perform a variety of missions. The bomber is capable of flying at high subsonic speeds at altitudes of up to 50,000 feet. It can carry nuclear or precision guided conventional ordnance with worldwide precision navigation capability.

Two U.S. carrier strike groups are surrounding Iran at sea and more than 50,000 troops are involved in this campaign which is ongoing.

KEEL reached out to the Public Affairs Division at Barksdale to find out if some of the B-52 bombers being used are from the local base, but they referred us to CENTCOM. We have also reached out to both Louisiana U.S. Senators John Kennedy and Bill Cassidy and House Speaker Mike Johnson, but they are apparently not at liberty to comment on the use of the bombers.
