A juvenile has died after being ejected from a truck in a single vehicle crash in Bienville Parish.
Louisiana State Police Troop G Troopers responded to a single vehicle crash on LA 4, about .8 miles east of LA 155, last night at about 7:15 pm.  The investigation revealed that a 2000 Chevrolet truck was traveling east on LA 4 in a slight left hand curve.  The truck ran off the road to the left and entered a grassy ditch area.  The driver attempted to re-gain control of the truck, but as it re-entered the roadway, it rolled over onto its left side.  The truck then traveled for about 169 feet before overturning onto its roof and coming to rest.  During the crash, the driver and two occupants were ejected from the vehicle.

The driver, identified as 20-year-old Steven Lane Williams from Saline, and a seventeen-year-old passenger were transported to Lincoln General Hospital with moderate injuries.

A fifteen-year-old passenger of the truck, identified as Moses Daniels of Saline, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Bienville Parish Coroner's Office.

Seat belts were not used by the driver or occupants. Impairment is not suspected to be a factor, but routine toxicology tests are pending.  Williams was issued a citation for careless operation.

The proper wearing of a seat belt is the best way to reduce injuries and fatalities in car crashes.  Louisiana law requires that all occupants, regardless of seating position, have a seat belt "properly fastened around his or her body at all times".

In 2012, Troop G Troopers have investigated three (3) fatal crashes resulting in three (3) deaths.
