Tornado Touches Down in East Texas
While the Shreveport-Bossier area largely made it through last night's storms unscathed, that wasn't the case in east Texas.
According to KLTV in Longview, the National Weather Service confirms an EF-1 tornado roared through the Hallsville area. It touched down off of Noonday Road, west of FM 450. Tornadoes were also reported in Longview, west of Henderson, along the Smith/Cherokee county line in northwestern Rusk County and along the Smith/Cherokee line in the Mixton area.
Crews continue to assess the damage, but we're hearing numerous structures were damaged in the Longview area. The storm also caused widespread road closures and power outages.
The American Red Cross East Texas chapter is providing shelter and disaster relief for those affected by the tornadoes.
