The Four Teams For The Ruston NCAA Baseball Regional
For the first time in program history, Louisiana Tech will be hosting an NCAA Baseball Regional at J.C. Love Field. The Diamond Dogs are nationally ranked, and are the #1 seed in their Regional. They found out yesterday that they would be hosting, and now today they found out what teams are coming to play.
The NCAA Selection Show revealed these four teams today...
This is a double elimination tournament, set for June 4-7. The June 7th date is only if necessary.
The #2 seed NC State went 30-17 this season, with a 19-14 record in the ACC. They made a run through the ACC Tournament, making it past Pitt and Georgia Tech, before losing to Duke, who won the ACC Championship.
The #3 seed goes to Alabama, who were 31-24 on the season, and 12-17 in the SEC. Alabama had to win a single elimination game on day one of the SEC tournament, but then got past Tennessee once, before losing to Florida, and then dropping their second SEC Tournament matchup to Tennessee, which eliminated the Tide.
The final seed, the #4 seed in the Ruston Regional, goes to Rider. They are the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Tournament Champions, who had a 23-16 record in the regular season, and an 18-16 MAAC record this year. Prior to the MACC Tournament, Rider was on a three game losing streak.
The first round mathc-ups for the Ruston Regional will see Alabama taking on NC State, and Rider playing the host team, Louisiana Tech.
