Teenage Girl Killed in Latest Shreveport Homicide
In the early morning hours on Sunday, Shreveport Police got a call about shots being fired on North Market Street near Superior Smoke Shop.
When Police got to the scene, they found a young girl with a gunshot wound to her upper-body. Police and Medics worked fast to get the 16 year-old girl to the hospital to start life-saving procedures. Sadly, the girl passed away from her injuries shortly after arriving at the hospital.
SPD's Homicide Investigators started going over the scene of the shooting, and determined that a large crowd of people had gathered at the shopping center parking lot before the shooting went down. While the gathering was going on, several vehicles started exchanging gunfire in the road. The teen was hit by one of the shots during the exchange.
SPD is urging anyone with information to come forward:
"This case remains an active and ongoing investigation. We urge anyone who may have witnessed the shooting or has information that could aid detectives to contact the Shreveport Police Department at (318) 673-7300 or submit anonymous tips through Caddo Crime Stoppers at (318) 673-7373 or via their app.
Help us bring justice to the young victim and her family."
