Teen Found Murdered in Shreveport Named By Caddo Coroner

A teen found mortally wounded on a west-central Shreveport street late Wednesday, November 8, 2023, has been named by the Caddo Parish Coroner's office.

Jason Smith, 18, of the 4600 block of Monkhouse Drive, was found shot in the head around 6:45 p.m. at Sunnybook Street and West Canal Boulevard. He was transported to Ochsner LSU Health hospital, where he succumbed to his wound Friday, November 10, 2023.

The slaying remains under investigation by the Shreveport Police Department, to which further inquiries should be directed.

Smith's death marks the 72nd homicide in Caddo Parish to date in 2023 and the 67th in Shreveport proper.

An autopsy was ordered.
