At the end of a marathon week in Baton Rouge, the Louisiana House appears to have broken their Special Session gridlock to come to a compromise to fund the state government.
Another special session begins Monday at 4pm and lawmakers are trying to come up with solutions to solve the state's budget crisis. This is a do or die session as the new fiscal year begins July 1 and the budget mess has to be solved before then.
State lawmakers have been called back to Baton Rouge by Governor John Bel Edwards. Another special session starts on Monday, June 18th. It must end June 27th.
Rep. Raymond Crews thinks that the Governor was attempting to broker a behind-the-scenes deal using the votes of Dem lawmakers that he really didn't have.
