Shreveport Public Assembly & Recreation (SPAR) will host its 2nd Annual Slam Dunk Contest, presented by Academy Sports & Outdoors, in conjunction with the 25th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Basketball Tournament on Friday, February 22, 2013.

Several area SPAR owned, Rock Solid Sports operated pools slated to shut down for the summer, ahead of school beginning. One city pool will remain open through at least mid-September though.

The 36th Annual Sickle Cell Softball Tournament at Cargill Sports Complex has been rescheduled for August 17 - 19, 2012 at Cargill.

Shreveport Public Assembly and Recreation (SPAR), and Rock Solid Sports announce that Querbes swimming pool will be closed Tuesday, July 24, 2012 for maintenance.

SPAR has a treat for youngsters today. A city-wide ice cream blowout is being held at all 14 community centers.  Free ice cream will be served beginning at 4pm.

Shreveport Public Assembly & Recreation (SPAR) announces its third Money Matters and Health Smart Classes for senior citizens. The classes will be held at Bill Cockrell Community Center, 4109 Pines Road, each Tuesday, from July 10, 2012 to September 11, 2012 from 9:30 – 11:30am.
