The first Tuesday in October is National Night out in our area. National Night Out has been taking place for many years, and was started to bring communities closer together to combat distrust and crime in neighborhoods.

Nearly two dozen neighborhoods throughout Bossier Parish hosted block parties for National Night Out.

The National Night Out block parties have become an annual tradition of neighborhoods coming together for friendly revelry, food, music, and just an all around good time.

National Night Out is taking place next Tuesday in both Bossier and Caddo Parishes.  In Bossier and Caddo the Night Out will take place from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.  Residents in neighborhoods throughout Bossier City and Shreveport are asked to turn on outside lights and spend an evening outside with neighbors and police.

Bossier Sheriff Julian Whittington encourages neighborhoods and residents in the parish to participate in Bossier Parish National Night Out on Tuesday, Oct. 7, from 6 - 9 p.m.

The Shreveport Police Department has extended the deadline to register your Shreveport/Bossier Night Out block party.  You now have until the close of business Monday, September 26th, to get that done.  Though National Night out is in August, Shreveport and Bossier City moved theirs to October several years ago to get away from the August heat...
