FORT HOOD, TEXAS (AP) _ A Fort Hood official says the shooter in Wednesday afternoon's attack at the central Texas army post was a soldier being assessed for whether he had PTSD, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.
Four people, including the gunman, were killed and 16 others injured in a shooting at Fort Hood in Killeen, Texas Wednesday evening. Fort Hood officials said the gunman was a soldier who had been receiving mental health treatment and that he died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Only a small number of U.S. combat soldiers remain in Irag. Most of them have now arrived back home in time for Christmas.
