I don't go fishing very often, but I really enjoy it while on vacation. I prefer deep sea fishing trips because I love catching big fish.

With summer right around the corner, lots of area folks might be thinking about heading out on the water. So this is the perfect time to get familiar with Louisiana's boating safety laws. That's the purpose behind a Boating Safety Class being held this weekend.

With the Sportsmans Expo coming up at the Shreveport Convention Center July 19-21, it brought back a fond memory I have of fishing. It also reminded me of some of the best places to fish in the Shreveport Bossier area. I was 3 or 4-years-old the very first time that I went fishing. My Daddy took me with him that day he was trying out his brand new Zebco rod and reel for the first time.

Do you like getting outside to enjoy a little recreation? You're not alone. Numbers are in that Louisiana residents spend about $15 billion a year on outdoor recreation across the state.

It's rained quite a bit lately, and that means elevated water levels on local rivers and lakes. Will that affect next weekend's Bassmaster Classic on the Red River? Chris Jay with the local tourism office says the anglers he's talked to say it won't be TOO much of a problem...
