The newest dog park in Shreveport broke-ground and began it's construction earlier this year in March.

Cynthia Keith says, "The park has been closed since late February: "(The flooding) left a layer of muddy silt. It's taken this long for everything to get dried up."

The Dog Park Alliance Board of Directors and SPAR representatives will meet with Shreveport-based landscape architect Lloyd Overdyke to go over the design for the dog park at the Stoner Avenue Boat Launch area.

No agreements have been made yet on Shreveport's proposed dog park, but the city council and other city officials met yesterday to talk about alternatives and options for the dog park.

Whether you want a dog park or not, you could be paying to not accept it.  If the Dog Park Alliance goes forward with plans to sue the mayor, Shreveport taxpayers will be footing the bill for Mayor Cedric Glover's defense.

The fight over a proposed dog park for Shreveport's riverfront seems headed for a courtroom showdown, and taxpayers could end up picking up the tab.

The proposal has been made, the money is there, but Cynthia Keith with the Dog Park Alliance says the council has to approve it.
