The State Fire Marshal's office has issued a burn advisory for the entire state because of trash fires that have gotten out of control.

Beginning Oct. 1 at 9 a.m., outdoor burning will again be allowed in certain Louisiana parishes, including Caddo and Bossier.

In the aftermath of weekend rains, some area residents have decided that it's OK to resume outdoor burning. But State Fire Marshal Butch Browning says it's not -- and the burn ban that he and Ag Commissioner Mike Strain issued last month remains in effect.

Now that the statewide ban on open burning has been lifted...what's the verdict locally? In Caddo Parish, Fire District 1 Spokeswoman Debra Nelson says...the ban stays. She says we really haven't seen enough significant rainfall here for fire districts to be able to lift the ban...

The statewide burn ban will end this Thursday morning.  That's the word from State Fire Marshal Butch Browning.  The ban has been in effect since June 1 because of the extreme dry conditions.

When State Fire Marshal Butch Browning issued the statewide burn ban a couple of weeks ago, he left some matters up to local jurisdictions. And, today, the Caddo Fire Chiefs' Association made the decision.

On April 1, 2011 Webster Parish Police Jury President Charles Walker and Webster Parish Fire Chief Jeff Walker issued a burn ban for all of the parish due to lack of rain.  Well, good news has arrived!
