Suspicious Person Call Results in Gun & Drugs Arrest
SHREVEPORT, LA- SPD Arrests Man with Narcotics and Stolen Firearm
In the early hours of September 5th, around 2 a.m., Shreveport Police Department officers arrested a man found in possession of narcotics and a stolen firearm. Officers were patrolling the area of Fairfield Avenue and Trabue Street due to a recent series of burglaries when they encountered a suspicious individual.
The suspect, identified as 24 year-old CORTEZ WALPOOL, was observed in the intersection of Fairfield Avenue and Trabue Street at an unusual hour, dressed in dark clothing and carrying a backpack. This behavior prompted officers to investigate further.
During the search, officers reported that Walpool had a handgun and suspected methamphetamine tablets. Additionally, it was revealed that he had outstanding traffic warrants. Further investigation determined that the firearm in Walpool's possession had been reported stolen during a burglary in July 2024.
Walpool was arrested and charged with the following offenses:
- Illegal carrying of a firearm
- Possession of a stolen firearm
- Possession of narcotics
- Outstanding warrants
