Suspect In Custody Charged With Thirteen Burglaries In One Week
A local man has been charged in connection with 13 burglaries reported at different businesses across the city.
Since the first of this month, detectives have been investigating numerous business burglaries throughout Shreveport.
In each of those crimes the suspect entered the business in a similar fashion and stole similar items. All the reported burglaries happened at night when the businesses were closed and no one was there. Based on information gathered as the result of a thorough investigation, detectives were able to identify a suspect and, on February 8, 2011, patrol officers spotted the man near St. Vincent Avenue and Hollywood Avenue. Upon further investigation, officers found the suspect, identified as 49-year-old Michael T. Butler, in possession of a small amount of suspected crack cocaine and a crack pipe. Butler, of the 7200 block of Flournoy Lucas Road in Caddo Parish, was booked into the Shreveport City Jail at that time on one count each of possession of a Schedule II narcotic and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Detectives continued their inquiry and earlier today charged Butler in connection with the 13 business burglaries. The establishments he allegedly broke into are:
Sylvia’s Hair in the 2700 block of Mackey Lane
