Shreveport police detectives have charged a local man in connection with a shooting last week that left another man hospitalized.

Police say 37-year-old Demarcus June has been named the suspect in the August 23 shooting in the parking lot of King Grocery Store in the 2400 block of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. The incident left 32-year-old Percy Johnson suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the legs.

Johnson was treated at University Health for non-life-threatening wounds. He continues to recover.

June was taken into custody, then booked into the Shreveport City Jail, charged with one count each of attempted second degree murder, obstructing justice and illegal possession of stolen things.

Police Corporal Marcus Hines told KEEL News the obstruction of justice and illegal possession charges are from an unrelated case.
