Next week is a big one for some area students. Next Thursday and Friday, Centenary College students present their best works of exploration and invention to fellow students and faculty -- during the 20th Annual Student Research Forum. This year, more than 47 students representing various fields of study will take part in the event. It provides them the opportunity to communicate their independent studies, senior seminars or summer research projects to the Centenary community.

And next Friday through Sunday, Caddo Magnet High School junior Ruth Bishop will travel to Washington, D.C., to present her research in the Young Epidemiology Scholars (YES) Competition. It's the nation's premier public health research competition for high school students. Ruth's been investigating the health risks of energy drinks on her peers. She's the only regional finalist from Louisiana to be chosen for the national competition. She'll be competing for a $50,000 scholarship.
