The Webster Parish Sheriff's Office recently developed a Special Response Tteam to respond to abnormal crisis situations. And this week, that ten-member team was put to the test with an exercise at Union Elementary School in Doyline. Students there played themselves while a couple of team members took on the role of being "active shooters" on the campus. The rest of the team members then played out the scenario just as they would have if the shooters had been real. Webster Parish Sheriff Gary Sexton says having a special team like this does nobody any good without training and practice. And he says there will be several more exercises during the year to help team members hone their skills so they can be better prepared to deal with any sort of crisis situation that might arise in the future.
