Police detectives are investigating the shooting death of a local man whose body was discovered outside of his southeast Shreveport home this afternoon.

At approximately 4:30 p.m. on October 7, 2011, Shreveport Police patrol officers were dispatched to a home in the 600 block of Ashbourne Drive relative to a shooting.  Upon arrival, patrolmen found 50 year old Harold Quinn outside of the home there near his vehicle suffering from a single gunshot wound to the chest.  Quinn was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Detectives were immediately dispatched and, based on all of the evidence collected and information gathered, believe Mr. Quinn accidentally shot himself while removing a firearm from his vehicle.  At this early stage of the investigation, authorities are not ruling anything out but they do not believe Mr. Quinn was the victim of a crime.
The investigation is ongoing at this hour.
