Shreveport Welcomes Hundreds Of New Jobs From SLB Expansion

Big economic news for Shreveport and northwest Louisiana. SLB, a global technology company is expanding its operations in Shreveport. This will bring in hundreds of new jobs to the region.

What Is the Good Economic News for Shreveport

SLB will expand its operations in Shreveport, resulting in hundreds of new jobs. Their technology center in Shreveport is located at the former GM plant and SLB’s Data Centers Director Andrew Johnston says it will soon become the largest SLB facility in the world.

You can see our very large SLB logo on the side of the building. I’m always happy to tell people this is actually the largest SLB sign in existence. But something I'm more proud of is this site is now the largest SLB facility in the world.

Right now, SLB has 660 employees at the Shreveport location, but Johnston says they plan to nearly double their number of jobs.

“In January we will begin our next expansion. We will invest $30 million into the facility. We will continue to modernize this campus with 600 new jobs through 2027 that will be created.”

The state of Louisiana offered SLB an incentives package to get the company to do this expansion.

What Did the Incentives Package Include

This deal with the state included assistance with workforce development and a six-million-dollar performance-based grant for utility and infrastructure improvements.

Chief Development Officer for the Louisiana Department of Economic Development Paige Carter says S-L-G could have expanded anywhere, but chose northwest Louisiana.

“They have chosen Shreveport because the region delivers companies in digital infrastructure and advanced manufacturing the needs, and the abilities to grow to exceeded expectations into continue doubling down.”

Back in 2023, SLB has signed a seven-year lease agreement with Shreveport Business Park to renovate and occupy 1 million square feet of the former GM plant that has been vacant since 2012.
