Downtown Shreveport's first ever indoor, hydroponic, vertical garden is set to welcome the public for their inaugural event this weekend.

Cotton St Farms was a finalist for the 2017 Louisiana Start Up Prize, and aims to help facilitate access to arts, culture, and access to "responsible hydroponic organic produce year-round". The facility is located at 406 Cotton Street in downtown Shreveport, and intends to deploy vertical growing towers (similar to those in the above video), as well as other planting methods, to grow various produce inside.

This Saturday night will be Cotton St Farms first ever public event, as they open their doors for a public Open House. The event will kick off at 9pm, and will feature local artists, music, and food. Including some local favorite food trucks.

Here's how Cotton St Farms explains their Open House event:

"The event will provide attendees with a glimpse into the eagerly awaited facility that will house downtown’s first indoor hydroponic vertical farm, the first downtown purveyor of year-round fresh produce in many years. Cotton St Farms has invited a number of local artists to showcase their work, as well as local business partners and non-profit organizations supporting the endeavor. Food trucks and a cash bar will be available, as well as giveaways and information."
