Shreveport residents who don't pay their water bill will be getting a surprise. The city is going to lock water meters so residents can't tamper with the meter to get the water back on. Over the past couple of weeks, nearly 100 meters have been locked. The city won't taking the locking tab off until the bill is paid. Removing a lock or tampering with the water meter is illegal and could result in fines and/or criminal charges. If your meter gets locked, the city crews will leave information on your door explaining the procedure.
