A man found mortally wounded in the Martin Luther King Jr. neighborhood early Wednesday, September 25, 2024, has been named by the Caddo Parish Coroner's office.

Eric Clinton, 51, of Shreveport, was found unresponsive near Legardy Street and Dr, Martin Luther King Jr. Drive around 9:50 a.m. He had been stabbed several times. He was taken to Ochsner LSU Health hospital, where he succumbed to his wounds at 10:35 a.m.

He was positively identified through fingerprint comparison.

Shreveport police continue to investigate the slaying, the 40th homicide inside the city limits to date in 2024 and the 43rd such death in Caddo Parish in that time.

An autopsy was ordered.
