Shreveport Woman Arrested After Endangering School Children
On Monday, December 2, 2024, at approximately 3:00 PM, Shreveport Police officers were called to an incident at Caddo Heights Elementary School, located at 1700 Corbett Street.
The responding officer was informed that a vehicle, driven by a female later identified as Shakayra Carmouche, was observed driving at an extremely high rate of speed around the school as students were exiting the premises. School personnel attempted to intervene and flag down the erratic driver, but she responded by screaming obscenities and speeding off.
During the incident, Carmouche nearly struck the school’s principal, who was actively working to de-escalate the situation and ensure the safety of students and staff. Multiple witnesses reported observing Carmouche driving recklessly and endangering others.
Shreveport Police officers apprehended Carmouche shortly after the incident. She has been charged with:
· One Count of Aggravated Assault
The Shreveport Police Department condemns actions that jeopardize the safety of children and staff members in our schools. This community will not tolerate behavior that endangers the well-being of its most vulnerable members.
