Shreveport Woman Arrested for Domestic Abuse in Front of a Child
Just before Christmas Eve, Shreveport Police responded to a violent domestic incident on Grigsby Street.
A child was present during this situation, and that child had the courage to record what was happening on a cell phone. That video was critical evidence and helped SPD understand what occurred.
SPD investigators determined that TanShanika Carter forced her way into the home, assaulted the victim, and caused property damage. Witnesses tried to break-up the violence but were unsuccessful. The victim had been attempting to end a relationship with Carter via text message just before the incident.
Carter was arrested on several charges, including:
-Simple Criminal Damage to Property
-Battery of a Dating Partner with a Child Present
-Fugitive Warrant (Louisiana State Police)
From SPD:
"Domestic violence impacts more than just the adults involved. Children see it. Children hear it. And children carry it with them. In this case, a child’s actions helped bring accountability — but no child should ever be put in that position.
If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, please reach out for help. Speak up. Call police. Protect yourself and protect the children."
