
Shreveport Police Arrest Man Following West 77th Street Shooting
The Shreveport Police have arrested a man following a call about a shooting on West 77th Street.
When Police showed up they found two men suffering from gunshot wounds. One of the men was William Mayfield. Mayfield had a gunshot wound to the leg, and the other man was shot in the abdomen.
After a short investigation, SPD was able to determine that Mayfield showed up to the victim's home with the intention of shooting him. Mayfield shot the man, and the victim shot back in self-defense, leaving both men injured.
After the investigation, William Mayfield was arrested and charged with one count of Attempted Second Degree Murder and one count of Felon in Possession of a Firearm. Mayfield also had a prior conviction for Domestic Abuse Battery by Strangulation from back in 2022.
Both men are expected to recover from their shooting injuries.
