BREAKING: Water Now Restored in West Shreveport
UPDATE: Water service is now restored, but a boil advisory is in effect for west Shreveport.
ORIGINAL STORY:
Residents of west Shreveport have been dealing with no water since about 8am this morning. The studios of KEEL just off of Pines Road lost water service this morning. We reached out to the city to find out what was going on.
Water and Sewer Director Brandon Snead told us "there was a brief power outage at the booster station. Swepco is working on a solution and should have the power back on shortly." But the outage continued for more than an hour. Snead tells us "Swepco blew a few fuses and are working on it."
What Area in Shreveport Is Without Water
I popped in to several businesses along Pines Road and found they all were without water. None of the restaurants could serve fountain drinks because the water was off.
Snead tells us the city is opening up some of the pressure valves to back feed some of the west Shreveport pressure zone until the power is restored by Swepco. He says they are also working on some other "contingency plans".
KEEL News has also been told a boil advisory will be issue for all of west Shreveport once the water service is restored.
