Random Attack in Shreveport Walmart Leads to Shot Being Fired
On June 14, at approximately 10:45 a.m., officers were dispatched to a report of shots fired inside the Walmart located at 11205 Shreveport Barksdale Highway. Upon arrival, officers were flagged down and detained two individuals involved in the incident.
Through a thorough investigation, officers determined that 31-year-old Davante Palmer attacked the victim randomly. During the attack, the victim produced a legally possessed handgun in an attempt to defend himself. At this time, Palmer grabbed the handgun, causing a single round to be fired. The victim then produced a knife and cut Palmer across the arm in order to stop the attack.
Multiple witnesses provided consistent accounts of the incident, corroborating the victim's statements. The investigation revealed that the two men did not know each other, and the attack appeared to be random. Palmer has been charged with one count of simple battery.
The investigation of this case is ongoing. No mugshot available.
