Shreveport Police Arrest Two for Guns and Drugs in Separate Cases
On Friday, Shreveport Police were able to make two arrests involving the illegal possession of guns.
SPD stopped a vehicle near Line Avenue and East 70th Street. During the stop, Officers made contact with Jalen Ducote. A search of Ducote's car turned-up a large amount of drugs as well as a handgun. Ducote was taken into custody and charged with possession with intent to distribute narcotics and illegal possession of a firearm while in possession of a controlled dangerous substance.
In a separate case, detectives with the Shreveport Police Department Property Crimes Unit were able to find and charge Preston Palmer with theft of a firearm and being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm following a July gun theft investigation. Detectives were able to determine that Palmer allegedly stole the gun and has a prior conviction involving domestic violence. This charge prohibits Palmer from having a gun in his possession.
Shreveport Police have been working tirelessly to get guns out of the hands of those who should not have them.
From SPD:
"The Shreveport Police Department remains committed to removing firearms from individuals who are prohibited from possessing them and will continue to take proactive steps to keep the community safe."
